Old soul. New build.

A Frank Brothers Guitar is built to already belong to you.

Founded in 2014, we strive every day to build guitars with vintage soul — a feeling of music waiting to be played, by you.

Homegrown in Toronto, each guitar is built with care, precision and passion in our factory in the East End, where the enduring traditions of craftsmanship meet modern methods of manufacturing.

Who We Are

Twin Luthiers Tim and Nick Frank — and an epic team of luthiers building with us in the factory in Toronto.

The Frank Brothers c. 1993 The tall guy in the middle? That is our big brother, Jon.

We founded Frank Brothers on a single conviction: that an instrument is never invented from nothing, but drawn from all that came before it.

A guitar earns its place by carrying the whole history of the form, while adding something unique to way forward.

We draw on decades of design, rooting in the American originals that defined the electric guitar before exploring the inventive curiosities of the catalogue era and the distinctive designs that rose from Japan, Italy, and Britain — each are gathered, reconsidered, and given new form.

Building on a family legacy of excellence in music.

Music runs back a few generations in our family. Two people in particular shaped how we think about instruments.

Philip Frank

Our grandfather

Philip Frank

A violinist who rose to concertmaster and first violin with the NBC Symphony Orchestra, and recorded with the "Duke of Windsor" Stradivarius. He taught us what a good instrument is worth. His brother Bernard played piano, and the two often recorded and performed together.

Jim Frank

Our father

Jim Frank

A recording engineer who spent his career chasing high fidelity. He's earned a Gemini Award, a Golden Reel Award, and a Double Platinum record, and worked with Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel, Bob Seger, and The Guess Who. From him we learned to care about how a thing sounds, down to the last detail.

Frank Brothers is where legacy and soul meet individuality and contemporary excellence.
